Chapters Video MMS-C my idea when we started developing this clinic was to model it after oncology, where all oncology patients are offered a clinical trial, uh, to participate in. And that's how oncology has discovered many new therapies for a lot of the cancers that we hear about. Our clinic now offers clinical trials of novel cutting edge therapies for almost all gla Merrill er diseases. So we're seeing patients with systemic Lupus who have kidney involvement. We're seeing patients with vasculitis who have kidney involvement. And then there's a whole host of primary Glenn Merrill er, diseases that we now know are mediated through the immune system and are most likely autoimmune disease. Like I, Gina frappe a the and primary member Knysna for apathy. We can actually try to look at the patient, understand their disease mechanism as best we can, and then try to match the patient with a clinical trialing off a new drug that we think is actually acting on those pathways there, injuring the kidney. So I have been doing this, uh, Metabolic Stone Clinic in collaboration with urology, which is a unique, multi factorial type of collaboration with urology, pathology and dietitian, and this being one of the unique clinics. They're all three services has offered to patients with kidney stones. There are not many places where a nephrologist of the dietitian are solely devoted for stone prevention, and that makes a huge difference. You really incorporated this multidisciplinary approach ingrained in our clinic. I'd like to think of us and these other clinics is regional centers of excellence to cover parts of the United States for large populations of people. Published November 10, 2020 Created by
